Welcome to the Lamb's fold
Who We Are

Lamb's Fold Center for Women and Children is a nonprofit human services organization providing transitional housing and residential domestic violence services to homeless women and children. We are an organization with nondenominational Christian beliefs and values, but we deeply respect the belief systems of other faiths. We encourage our residents to participate and become invested in the church or house of worship of their choosing because we believe the benefits gained from that spiritual foundation are very helpful to women and children recovering from trauma; indeed, for all of us.

Lamb's Fold Center for Women and Children is a program of Christian Family Ministries, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) charitable, et al., corporation. We are registered with and in good standing with the State of Illinois.

We offer a comprehensive set of supportive services to assist women who are homeless due to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, financial crisis, unemployment, untimely pregnancy, or other critical situations. These supportive services assist women to regain their dignity, independence, and self-sufficiency.

History

From rural beginnings in the village of Symerton, Illinois, in 1984, the Lamb's Fold program has experienced steady growth. After moving to Joliet to be closer to services for residents, the organization grew dramatically to double its capacity by adding a second home for mothers of infants. Seeing the need for dedicated housing services for all homeless women, in 1995 we moved to 153 S. Ottawa Street in Joliet to a former school building. This larger building enabled the Lamb's Fold to become transitional housing for homeless women, pregnant or not, with or without young children.

Please take an opportunity to get to know us better by accessing the pages about our Board of Directors, Advisory Board of Directors, and Key Staff. Volunteers are an essential part of our organization and are always needed. Please visit the Volunteer section for more information.
